Kristine Miller

Kristine Miller was announced as the first IU Kokomo Head Women’s Tennis Coach, in the fall of 2016. In their first season (2017-2018), they were 5-16 and 4-4 in conference play, finishing 5th in the River States Conference. In the second season (’18-’19), the Cougar ladies moved up a position, to 4th in the conference. They ended the season 8-14, inching closer to a winning season. Coach Miller’s philosophy is to be a caring, competent, and reflective coach, with high expectations for her student-athletes. She hopes that her student-athletes will learn a lot more than just academics and tennis during their four years at IU Kokomo, under her guidance. She believes that the wins and losses will take care of themselves, as the program continues to grow and evolve. She is thankful for the players that have started this program from the ground up and will always remember the faith it took for them to risk coming into a new program and all that it brings.

Coach Kristine Miller coached for a decade in the high school realm, as a head coach for both boys and girls tennis teams along the way. She has been one of the teaching pros at the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center since 2007 and works on player development with younger students.

Kristine played for Taylor University between 2004-2008. During her senior year at TU, she won her individual flight at the conference tournament. Kristine played tennis for Kokomo High School in 2000-2004, never losing a sectional or regional match both as a team and individually. Kristine credits much of her inspiration for and philosophy of coaching to her high school/college coaches, professors and mentors (Ginger Gilles, Bobby Mize, Shawn Flanary, Dara Syswerda, and Don Taylor) and is so thankful to be able to pursue her dream of coaching high-level tennis in her home town!?
