KOKOMO, Ind. - Make it three years in a row that the IU Kokomo Men's Golf team has won their home spring tournament, as the Cougars narrowly beat IU East over the weekend in the IUK Spring ShootoutÂ
Held at the beautiful Wildcat Creek Golf Course, the Cougars shot a final round 303 (+15) for a two-round total of 603 (+27), one stroke better than the Red Wolves of IU East who finished the tournament with a two-round total of 604 (+28). IU East's Sam Firebaugh earned Individual Medalist honors, firing rounds of 67-72 for a two-round total of 139 (-5).
A pair of underclassmen led the Cougars to their first tournament victory of the 2024-2025 season, as sophomore
Oliver Gearlds delivered consistent rounds of 75-74 for a two-round total of 149 (+5), while freshman
Lucas Miller finished one shot back in solo-fifth. Miller shot an opening round 78 before firing an even-par 72 Sunday for a two-round total of 150 (+6).
Junior
Hayden Williamson followed Miller in sixth, turning in rounds of 72-79 for a two-round total of 151 (+7).Â
Luke Watson was the fourth and final Cougar to finish inside the Top-10, carding rounds of 75-78 for a two-round total of 153 (+9).
Cole Collins rounded out the IU Kokomo lineup, finishing the weekend with a two-round total of 162 (+18).
