NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's golf team closed out their fall portion of the 2024-2025 schedule Tuesday with the final round of the Holy Cross Invite, held at the prestigious Warren Golf Course. There was one change in how the course played between the two rounds, as hole number 10 played as a par five Monday. before being changed to a par four Tuesday.
The Cougars scored their best team finish of the season in the two-day event, finishing second with a two-round total of 624 (+60). After an opening round 319 put them in a tie for third with 18 holes to play, the squad improved 14 strokes in the final round to finish two-strokes clear of third-place Olivet Nazarene (Ill.).
IU Kokomo was led by sophomore
Luke Watson, as he fired consistent rounds of 77-76 to finish seventh with a two-round total of 153 (+12).
Classmate
Oliver Gearlds finished one stroke back of Watson in a tie for eighth, improving by four strokes in round two with a 75 after a 79 in Monday's first round.
Hayden Williamson found himself in solo-16th after carding rounds of 81-77 for a two-round total of 158 (+17).
Huntington native
Cole Collins struggled on day one with an 86, but bounced back on day two with a 77 to finish 24th with a two-round total of 163 (+22).
Three Cougars finished in a tie for 25th to round out the IUK lineup, with two of them playing as individuals.
Ryder Jones,
Lucas Miller (ind.), and
Davis Peterson (ind.) each finished with a two-round total of 164 (+23).
